It is hard to believe we are heading into spring break tomorrow. The snow I woke up to at my house this morning did not support a springtime theme or feeling! Hopefully, it will improve over the break.

What an incredible time we all had on Saturday at UA’s first-ever Carnival! The energy, enthusiasm, and community spirit were truly inspiring. The school was transformed, with the gym turning into a midway, the main foyer turning into a bandstand, and the underground turning into a dunk tank and food court. A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who made it all possible – your hard work and dedication brought this event to life! A special shout-out to PAX and Carnival Chair Tina Parmar, who took on the leadership of the event and made sure everything ran smoothly. Her team was incredible as well and tended to every little detail!

Looking a bit further abroad, on Monday, a group of our Grade 10–12 students flew off on an adventure to explore the rich culture and history of Spain and Portugal. We look forward to hearing all about their adventures and the memories they’re making abroad. Travel is a wonderful way to learn about the world and grow as a person, so I am grateful UA can offer these annual opportunities to our senior students.

Thank you to everyone who has maneuvered around all of the construction in the back lane over the last few years during drop-off and pick-up. We have developed a system that works and is as efficient as possible. Wesgroup will be completing a significant amount of work in the back lane over spring break, so the lane and UA’s underground parking lot will be closed throughout the break, and all pedestrian access to the school will need to go through the front doors on Rousseau. When you return, you’ll notice some exciting progress—it will look much different!

So, in a couple of weeks, we will all return and begin the final push towards the end of the school year – time is flying!! Safe travels to anyone travelling over the next couple of weeks. My wife, Leanne and I will be chasing some sunshine on the Baja Peninsula. I wish everyone in the UA community a restful and rejuvenating spring break. Thank you for being such an integral part of our wonderful community!

Yours in education,

Mr. Mike Slinger
Head of School
