Dear UA Parents,

It was great to see so many of you at the Grade 4-12 Performing Arts Showcase at the Massey Theatre on Tuesday. In speaking with some of our students, I realized that they have not had very many opportunities in the past few years to share their talents on the ‘big stage’ for their families, so they were very excited about performing for you. I think they did a fantastic job and our Performing Arts Department should also be quite proud of their work with students. I am looking forward to the always adorable JK-Grade 3 performances, as well as the Theatre Company Productions next month!

These productions are also an indication that we are nearing the end of the school year. With the end of the year approaching we are excited to be able to host a number of wonderful traditions once again. Tonight I am looking forward to celebrating our Graduating Class of 2022 with our UA Grad Dinner and Dance. Over the past two years I have come to know these Graduates and I am incredibly proud of the people they have become, and the representatives they are of Urban Academy. It will be a privilege to celebrate them tonight with their guests and families.

I would also like to let you know to expect a communication from the school on Tuesday that will be outlining many details for the Upper Middle and Senior School students for next year. It has been challenging rebuilding our Senior School timetable into a new format that will allow for the current and continued growth in our Senior School grades. While the information will be most relevant to families with students in the Upper Middle and Senior Schools next year, I would like to encourage you all to take a look at some of the materials. It is exciting to get a sense of what is to come in the future for the younger students.

I hope you all are able to take some time to rest after an extremely busy couple of weeks in and around UA. Have a wonderful long (4-day) weekend with your families.

Yours in education,

Mr. Slinger
