Urban Academy Environmental Science 12 students, passionate about changemaking, headed to UBC for the ISABC Climate Action in Motion: Youth Sustainability Conference. The 1-day conference allowed students to explore local, regional and global sustainability issues through workshops and presentations and connect with peers who share similar passions from across the province.

Real World Connections

In a unique and influential setting, students actively engaged with experts, professors, university students, and representatives from non-profit organizations and social enterprises. They were able to have meaningful discussions on climate change and environmental action with others who work in the industry with first-hand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities ahead. UA students connected with like-minded peers from across all ISABC schools, sharing stories of climate action and drawing inspiration from their collective commitment to a sustainable future.

Learning Opportunity

As Urban Academy is committed to cultivating a culture of responsible stewardship and social awareness, inspiring our community to make a difference locally and beyond, the conference resonated with our students. The ISABC Climate Action in Motion Conference gave students the opportunity to expand their knowledge, build connections and learn about opportunities today and in the future to contribute positively to the community. Another significant benefit is the inspiration students walked away from the conference with, and their ability to think critically and further grow their community mindset. All skills that will empower them to truly be the changemakers of tomorrow!
