LET'S GET MOVING
LET'S BUILD A PLAYGROUND
We are excited to announce that for this year’s appeal, we are finishing all of our decks to become spaces to play, climb, connect, relax, study and MOVE! This is a major initiative, but one that we know families have been wanting for some time, the biggest addition being a playground structure built into the fourth floor deck! Our ‘Let’s Get Moving’ Appeal is our most significant appeal ever as we aim to raise $250,000.
Kids need physical and mental challenges while they play. The playground and athletic/play decks and equipment will help them develop balance, coordination, muscle endurance, problem-solving skills, social skills and much more.
There are many ways to support the Annual Appeal and participate in the expansion of Urban Academy’s programming. You may know family members, employers and the wider community who would appreciate supporting Urban Academy. Please feel free to pass along this opportunity to them as well. Contributions to Urban Academy are tax deductible. Every gift means so much.

Three Ways to Donate
PARENT EQUITY UNITS
We have already had a number of families offer to convert a Parent Equity Unit of $5,000 into a donation for a tax receipt to support this initiative. As with all donations, those who choose to donate their Parent Equity Units will receive a charitable tax receipt of $5,000 per unit donated. Each gift of $5,000 and over will also be recognized with a leaf on our giving tree.
ONLINE DONATION
You can make your contribution as a one-time or monthly gift, online through CanadaHelps.org. Simply click on the link below. A tax-deductible receipt will be emailed to you immediately from CanadaHelps.

Spaces to connect, play and move
At Urban Academy, we offer students access to technology, competitions, field study, experts, equipment and teaching resources of the highest caliber, designed to improve instruction and develop resilient and creative learners. Tuition fees alone can not put all of these resources in the hands of Urban Academy students. We rely on the generous contributions of our community to support initiatives such as the Annual Appeal to add depth and breadth to our program and our students’ achievement.
We are excited to announce that for this year’s appeal, we are finishing all of our decks to become spaces to play, climb, connect, relax, study and MOVE! This is a major initiative, but one that we know families have been wanting for some time, the biggest addition being a playground structure built into the fourth floor deck! Our ‘Let’s Get Moving’ Appeal is our most significant appeal ever as we aim to raise $250,000 for the following projects:
- A ‘Habitat Systems’ playground suitable for students in Junior and Middle School will be installed into the 4th floor deck including climbing apparatuses, slides, turf, and many opportunities for gross motor movement.
- Conversion of the east 3rd floor deck into a sports and activity deck – moving of the gazebo, enhanced fencing, new flooring and adding additional netting.
- The 3rd floor south deck will become a partially covered ‘zen’ deck with furniture, flooring and spaces for students to hang out and learn.
- The 5th and 6th floor decks will be furnished with study and hang out spaces.
Additional items that will be included in the appeal that will impact students directly are:
- Shared space furniture for the 4th and 5th floor.
- 2 screens and projectors for the gym and 5th floor common space.
These projects will begin shortly, culminating with the 4th floor play structure this summer. As always, we will only be successful in finishing all of these decks and floors if our community supports these initiatives by contributing and participating in the Annual Appeal. We truly believe that these changes will impact our students directly in a significant way, and we hope that together, we will be able to fulfil the wishes of parents, staff and students by using all of our beautiful spaces in the best ways possible!
