In a collaboration that bridged the gap between our Junior, Middle and Senior Schools, we’ve had a flurry of activity up in our Senior School Science Lab. This initiative saw Grade 9 students taking the reins as young mentors, guiding their younger peers through engaging science experiments. It also saw the Grade 1s make the journey from the 2nd to 5th floor for some hands-on science demonstrations led by the Grade 11 and 12 students.

Tiny Scientists, Big Discoveries: Grade 1s Explore Sound And Light Waves With The Grade 12s

Ms. Han’s and Ms. Sun’s Grade 1 classes made the journey up 4 flights of stairs to explore the Senior Science Lab! These tiny scientists spent the afternoon participating in hands-on experiments delivered by the Grade 11 and 12 students. The Grade 1’s learned about the properties of light and sound, explored sound waves, refraction and reflection of light, and even played with a model of an ear drum.

The experience was not just about learning scientific principles; it was an opportunity for cross-grade interaction and mentorship. The Grade 11 and 12 students served as inspiring role models, showcasing the benefits of pursuing a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.

We love to see the smiling faces and inquisitive minds of the Junior School up on the 5th floor and look forward to collaborating with more junior classes in the future!

Grade 4 Lab Day: Grade 9 Students Create Hands-On Lessons About Matter

Grade 4 students were recently treated to an enriching experience in the senior science lab. This initiative saw Grade 9 students taking the reins as young mentors, guiding their younger peers through engaging science experiments.

The focal point of the lab activities centred around the states of matter and the behaviour of particles. The Grade 9 students, armed with a passion for science and a firm grasp of the subject, led the Grade 4 scientists through hands-on experiments that brought theoretical concepts to life.

The collaboration not only provided Grade 4 students with a glimpse into the exciting world of high school science but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and mentorship. The senior students, in turn, honed their leadership skills and deepened their understanding of the fundamental principles they were teaching. This cross-grade interaction not only made science more accessible but also inspired a love for learning, setting the stage for future scientific exploration among these enthusiastic young minds.
