Dear UA Parents,

Thanks to everyone for helping us get through the Braid shutdown with very few issues this week. Your adaptability is appreciated. I am sure you have all felt the increased pace at the school; I know we have so many activities happening for our students and community through the end of the year. I hope to see many of you out at the various events.

We want to let you know that we are hosting the first of its kind Theatre Company Productions on June 21st at the Massey. Our Middle School Drama Club will be performing Aladdin Jr., and our Theatre Company will be performing Beauty and the Beast Jr.. Both casts have been working on these productions all year. This is a new format for the school and a reflection of the growth of the program. We would love for all UA students and families to attend and celebrate our UA talent. Ticket sales go directly to the rental of the venue, which has increased quite significantly since our last performances. As a result, we will be looking for other facility options to showcase our students to meet our changing needs for the coming year. We have set ticket prices for the June 21 shows in a way to encourage our UA students and families to attend ($5 for students, $20 for adults).

As we near the end of this school year, we also have a few pieces of information to share with you about transitions in some key Parent Leader positions. Nav Gaday has done a fantastic job in leading our active and passionate PAX and is now stepping down to allow for new leadership from Tina Parmar, our new incoming PAX Chair supported by Zakkiya Janmohamed stepping into Vice Chair. Sonya Das Gupta will also be stepping down as Vice Chair, and the unbelievable role she has filled as UA’s Parent Volunteer Coordinator. Rupa Marcus will be finishing her important work of leading our Class Parents as Class Parent Coordinator, and will be handing over that role to Jennifer Novak for the coming school year. Thank you to all of our parent leaders for serving in these positions the past three years and to those stepping into these big shoes for the future.

UA is only what it is because of the incredible service of parents like those listed above. They have given amazing amounts of their time, talent and passion to help UA grow into what it is today. You will be missed, but we are grateful for your support these last three years. We also recognize those stepping off the PAX after many years of service, Thank you to Suzette Willems, Leanne Kirk, Sherry Purewal, Rabiya Karamali, Seham Merali and Sonia Khosa. You have helped create so many amazing memories for our students, our staff and our parents!

Yours in education,

Mr. Slinger
