I hope everyone had a restful holiday. It is amazing how the school comes to life when students return from a break, and this week was no different. There was so much activity from science labs, music, students getting outside, field study, and the gym, as always, was buzzing.
As our Senior families are aware, Mme. Dumortier, our Acting Senior School Principal, will be starting her maternity leave mid-February to welcome her first child. We are so excited for her and this adventure, and are pleased to share that she will be returning in August in preparation for UA’s next school year. In her absence, Ms. Manifold, our Acting Middle School Principal, will expand her duties and responsibilities to serve as UA’s Acting Middle and Senior Principal. This will be a smooth transition, as Mme. Dumortier and Ms. Manifold already have a strong collaborative partnership, and we are incredibly well-served by our educational leadership. Supporting Ms. Manifold in the Middle and Senior Schools for the remainder of the school year will be Mr. Twaites, Associate Principal of Student Life, and Ms. Ball, Director of Teaching and Learning.
Next week, we have invited our Grade 6, 7 and 8 parents to learn more about the UA Sr. School program and hear from a panel of students at our Senior School Showcase. At that event, we are also unveiling an extremely exciting signature Grade 8/9 program for the next school year. In next week’s weekly news, we will be able to share those details with the wider community. I am grateful to work with an exceptional staff who continue to desire more for UA’s students at every grade level.
Thank you for a wonderful first week back, and I’m looking forward to all that is to come in the coming months.
Yours in education,
Mr. Slinger, Head of School
