Happy Friday everyone,

What an exciting week it has been for many of our Grades 8 and 9 students who have spent the week on a variety of adventures in Quebec. Carnaval has been such a success and we are excited that our Grades 8 and 9 students will have the opportunity to participate every two years. It is a fantastic cultural experience and an opportunity for our students to put their French language skills to work as they tour and participate in events around Quebec City. See our Social Media for photos from the trip.

Our basketball teams have also represented UA well over the last few weeks. The Lions’ Den has been very good to our teams recently. A big congratulations to our Junior Basketball teams who have both earned spots in the Fraser North Playoffs. Fraser North is the Zone we play in for BC School Sports and includes both public and independent schools throughout the Fraser North region. The Junior Boys will play on Saturday in the UA Lions’ Den at 2:00pm against Heritage Woods Secondary from the Coquitlam School District. Our Junior Girls team will also be playing on Saturday with tip-off at 5:00pm at Centennial. Good luck to both teams!

Once again, I would like to extend a big thank you to the UA Board members who continue to volunteer their time and energy to ensure UA is successful from a governance and strategic perspective. I am pleased to announce that the Board has added a new Director, Iain Evans. Iain brings a wealth of experience and will undoubtedly be a great addition to the Board.

Finally, I would like to wish everyone a wonderful weekend. Specifically, I hope the members of our UA community who are celebrating the Lunar New Year enjoy their celebrations. It was wonderful to see the bright colours that so many of our students wore to school today in the tradition of the Lunar New Year festivities to help welcome the Year of the Dragon.
