Dear UA Parents,
I am grateful for the opportunity to write today’s Weekly Update and share some important news with you. Many of you who have been with Urban Academy for some time know that October 1st is typically the kick-off to our Annual Appeal. For those who are newer with us, it is a time of year when the community comes together to raise funds for any of the ‘extras’ we would like to see for UA Students. As that date came and went this year, without an email or package in your snail mail, I’m sure many of you went to your calendars to see if you had the date correct. Rest assured, despite the sunshine and warm weather, it is still October and the Appeal is still coming!
Some of you may have seen the social media posts this week indicating that ‘something big is about to lift off and we need your help’ with the footage of the crane moving one of our large wooden gazebos from one side of our 3rd floor decks to another. Spoiler alert – the big project is part of this year’s Annual Appeal. This project is so large and significant that it is taking us a little longer (past the October 1 date) to be able to share all of the details with you.
We still aren’t quite at a place to be able to disclose all of the details, but keep an eye out as Mr. Slinger will be able to do that next week. However, we wanted to set the stage that with your support, we will hopefully be able to complete a project that is even slightly larger than one our families have been asking for, for quite some time.
On a daily basis, I am humbled by the commitment and support we have always had from our parent community. You are generous with your time and talents as you work in committees, share your expertise with students, brave the directing of traffic, and execute community initiatives; our UA parents are second to none. We have a community that has always responded to the call when UA made some significant steps in our growth. So we are looking forward to sharing this news next week, and want to thank you in advance for helping bring this particular dream to fruition.
