We started the year with the UA Roar Magazine, celebrating the history of UA as we entered our 25th year. Throughout the year, we have reflected on a school that was proudly founded by parents and started looking ahead to what is next in the journey.
Ultimately, all of our time, investments, sacrifices, and collaborative planning as staff and parents are dedicated to ensuring your children thrive far beyond the classroom. It is with this reflection that we thought it would be best to hear directly from students. Please enjoy this Student Video of appreciation for 25 years of parent support, dedicated to our families, past and present!
Recently, at the gala and the arts showcase last night, we shared news regarding some recent community events. First was the UA Carnival. Thank you to the 500 parents, students, staff, and alumni who planned, executed and attended such a fantastic community event. It offered a fun day to come together and play, but we also raised over $15,000. That, along with the hard work of UA’s PAX over the course of the year that raises an additional $45,000, we will continue to fund the Garden Program and invest in the new UA ARC Program and tech education across grades, fueling hands-on and experiential learning.
The gala was another wonderful event that brought together 170 parents, staff, alumni, and friends of UA for an evening of reflection and celebration. Hearing from three of UA’s founders about their original vision, reiterated that our purpose has remained consistent over all these years. They reminded us of the value of a school where every student is truly known, pushed beyond their comfort zone through meaningful challenge, and supported by a community that grows together.
Because of your generosity, the gala raised approximately $50,000. As shared at the gala, these funds will help to fund the work we are taking on over the course of the next school year to look ahead with bold thinking regarding UA facilities as pressure grows on our specialist spaces. This work will help set and clarify the course for what is next.
To set that course, we will bring together staff, parents, and students to dream the dream, ensuring we move forward collaboratively into our next 25 years with the facilities that will allow UA students to be prepared for an ever-changing tomorrow. This feedback starts with the parent survey (a reminder was sent yesterday morning), so please take a few moments to complete it and share your perspective.
Thank you once again to our wonderful UA Community for being along for this journey with us as we continue to shape an environment where students are set up to thrive far beyond the classroom.
All the best,
Yours in Developing UA,
Sonja Kennedy
