I am thrilled to share some highlights from our recent outdoor education experiences.

Our students have embraced the spirit of adventure and learning through two exceptional events: our inaugural “Camp UA” event for Grades 4 and 5 and hiking the Stawamus Chief for a group of Grade 8 and 9 students. “Camp UA” offered invaluable lessons in outdoor skills, environmental stewardship, and community building. The Stawamus Chief hike provided a preview of what is to come with the International Duke of Edinburgh Award (Duke of Ed) program, launching in September 2025. This was a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for physical activity and natural exploration, fostering resilience and teamwork among our students. The Duke of Ed will provide students with an opportunity to further enrich their learning at UA and directly connect to the profile of a graduate. This internationally recognized award will benefit students in not only their university applications but also in life as they gain valuable experiences and skills along the way.

Earlier this week, we sent out detailed letters and information regarding our upcoming June camps for students in Grades 3-8. These camps are designed not only to further enhance academic learning but also to instill a deep appreciation for nature and outdoor education. We kindly remind you that completed forms are due by May 9 to ensure a smooth planning process.

For our most senior students, Grades 10-12, we are launching the first-ever ‘UA Amazing Race’. This exciting event will take place on May 13 and give students a chance to learn valuable outdoor skills in a city environment.

We firmly believe in the profound impact of outdoor education on students’ holistic development. These experiences not only complement classroom learning but also nurture critical life skills such as problem-solving, resilience, and environmental awareness. As partners in your child’s education journey, we encourage your support in embracing these opportunities for growth and discovery.

Thank you for your continued partnership and enthusiasm for our outdoor education initiatives. Together, we look forward to building our program with learning, exploration, and memorable experiences for our students.

Go Outside!
