December 7, 2018

Dear Urban Academy Families,

This amazing weather has really been a gift on the project site. We are making excellent progress on both the interior and exterior. In the New Year I will be communicating the move-in and start-up plan for families so that you can plan accordingly.

Our boys’ basketball teams started their season this week. Grade 5 boys won handily against Stratford Hall. Grade 6/7 boys did not fare as well but played a very good game and all of them are enjoying themselves and learning the sport. We are proud of their teamwork and sportsmanship.

Thank you for your work with teachers on report cards. Please follow up on any concerns that may have been raised as we move through the second term. I will be adjusting the second term report cards by approximately a week in order to accommodate our move as it now comes right at the time we would have had marks cut-off for the second academic term. The specifics will come out to you once we are back from the holidays.

Our Annual Appeal is going exceptionally well. We have had in excess of $93,000 donated to support our new school Thank you to our families who have donated, every amount helps. We will ensure that you have your tax receipts for the end of 2018.

Thank you to everyone in our community who donated to the very successful Christmas Toy Drive at both campuses. The boxes were filled with generous gifts for needy children this time of year. Our Uptown students turned it into a House challenge and we had an overflowing toy box! Your generosity is appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you at the Winter Concert next week. The students are most pleased to share their work with you and are excited to host their families in the beautiful old the Massey Theatre.

The Board of Urban Academy reviews the tuition fee structure and associated fees every year in December so that the approved new fee schedule can be shared with families in a timely manner for the next school year. The fee schedules for Tuition, the Consolidated Activity Fee and Out of School Care for 2019-2020 have been approved by the Board and are attached to this email for your reference. The Board has had the prudent practice of steady and regular adjustments of tuition that reflect real costs, are reasonable for families and that meet the commitments they have made in the long term to the school community and the nature of a sustainable school. The information on tuition for the next school year (2019-2020) is also posted on our website.

Have an enjoyable weekend with your family.

Mrs. Cheryle Beaumont
