November 4, 2022

Dear UA Families,

It has been another full week at Urban Academy with no shortage of activities. First off, big congratulations to our Junior Boys Volleyball team for placing third at GVISAA playoffs this week. They worked hard this season, and it paid off. UA also sent a contingent of Grade 7 & 8 students to the ISABC Student Leadership Conference at West Point Grey Academy. They had a wonderful time connecting with students from around the region, learning leadership skills and exploring important issues facing students today.

The fall is also a time when we review this past year by way of our Annual General Meeting that will be taking place at 7pm November 15 on Zoom. Please review our AgendaAnnual Report and Audited Financials in advance. We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the AGM. As we take the time to look back, we are also looking forward and putting plans in place for the coming year. Over the coming months, as has become our practice, we are looking forward to sharing the plans we have for the further growth of our program. Please stay tuned for an all parent update event in early December. We are also excited to showcase the UA Senior Program to all of our Grade 6-9 parents with a Senior School Showcase taking place on January 17, 2023, when families are invited to learn more about what is ahead of them at UA.

With regard to school logistics, as the fall moves quickly to winter please give yourself a little extra time for drop off and pick up. As many families this week know, it also appears that cold and flu season like those we experienced prior to the pandemic is upon us. So a reminder to encourage frequent hand washing and that if your child is sick, please keep them home for the day.

And finally, thank you to our amazing PAX and parent volunteers who are running around and putting the final touches in place as we speak to prepare for our first Upper Middle School Dance of the year. They are also well underway with plans for the Senior Social taking place in a few weeks. UA students are fortunate to have you create these wonderful experiences that have become highlights to their school year!

Together in Developing UA,

Ms. Sonja Kennedy
Director of Development
