Dear UA Families,

We have been surrounded by a winter wonderland this week. Weather upheavals like this help us all to practice flexibility and flexible thinking, as well as resilience. These are all future-focused skills that are incredibly important and that help people – young or old – become adaptable. We hope you were all able to enjoy some joy on the snow day this week, whether that meant some impromptu sledding, or that Danish practice of hygge (a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being) and curling up in a warm place to enjoy a book or a hot chocolate.

The changing of the seasons always brings a newness, and this holds true at UA as well. Starting next week we will have a new season of extracurricular clubs and activities. You can see the updated and expanded chart on the Parent Hub to see what opportunities await your children. We are also in the final stages of putting together our academic program for next year and will be releasing our Course Guide to families by the end of next week so you can see the amazing array of academic courses we will be offering UA Graduation Program students. This is in tandem with our Senior Showcase which will take place on February 2 in the afternoon, where students will have a gallery walk of opportunities that UA has to offer.

With this changing of the season, we have another hygge offering: we will have board games and card games on the third floor every weekday morning from 8:00 am until classes begin for any interested Middle and Senior School students. We have an array of board games thanks to donations from families as well as purchases made by the school (Catan, Chess, Uno, Risk, Life, Sorry, Battleship, Monopoly Star Wars, Trivial Pursuit, Jenga, and more). We hope that these creative and fun games will help students start each day off right.

We hope you are able to embrace this season, and we look forward to unveiling new and exciting things to our UA community.
