Hello UA Community,

What a week it has been! I know many of you, like me, were completely blown away at the Winter Concert this week. The talent and enthusiasm we saw from students was incredible, and I know many of you (like the staff do too) burst with pride when we see those young performers shine!

As a staff we talk about ‘the UA Advantage’ and it feels like we have been living it in spades this week. The UA Advantage is the idea that our students are able to take part in many diverse activities and aren’t necessarily limited to one. Many of the students performing at the Winter Concert on Tuesday, also played in basketball games the following days, and took part in the Robotics Team parent exhibit later in the week. Having students strut their stuff on stage one evening, win a basketball game the next and then proceed to show their parents how they have coded their robot on the third day is indicative of the opportunities that we are so proud to be able to offer students. I know this keeps you busy planning and scheduling all of the things, but it is incredible to see students thriving in this way!

We shared this at the concert, but a heartfelt thank you goes out to one of our families who has stepped up to donate generously towards the growth of Athletics at UA. You will begin to see updates and additions to our gym in the coming months, and we have been able to add new equipment and gear because of their contribution, which is wonderful! Thank you!

Communally, there has also been a flurry of activity this week toward the ‘Let’s Get Some Wheels’ Appeal. I am happy to share that we have raised $112,000 which is 75% toward our goal of $150,000 toward a UA Activity Bus. We would love to reach that goal by the end of this month, so if you have not yet contributed we would invite you to consider jumping ‘on board’ either by way of direct donation or Parent Equity unit. Just 8 more units will help us surpass that goal and get that bus, and each unit you donate will result in a $5,000 tax receipt in time for year-end tax planning. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far, we are fortunate to have the community we do!

There is one week left to go, and it is a wonderful week of activity around the school, including the always eagerly anticipated JK and K concerts! Just a reminder that you can always find the Spirit Week Outline on the Parent Hub to help keep things straight. And, do note below that Friday, December 15 is an early dismissal day with times listed below.

Almost there, everyone, you’re doing great and the break is just around the corner!

Yours in Developing UA,
Sonja Kennedy
