Dear Urban Academy Families,

We are pleased to share good news with our school community regarding our Senior Drama Club performance at the VISTA
competition last week. VISTA is a competition for one-act plays that is open to all ISABC schools and is hosted at St. George’s School. We have entered and competed for approximately the past three years and our students have always performed well. This year we won “Best Ensemble”, an award recognizing how well the group of students works together to produce their piece. Congratulations to our students and Mrs. Brooke for their great work.

I am pleased to announce to our community that Mrs. Nav Gaday will be stepping up as PAX Chair. The Gaday family have
two girls in the school and have been active members of our community, volunteering in many different roles since they joined UA. She will be ably supported in the role of Vice-Chair by Sonya Das Gupta. Sonya will retain her responsibilities as Volunteer Co-ordinator as well. Sonya and her husband have a child in grade 4 at UA and have also been active supporters since their first year of joining the school community. I am very much looking forward to working with both of them to support the work PAX does for our school and our students. Thank you both for your leadership.

The Head of School surveys the parent community every two years to receive feedback and seek your thoughts on the areas of strength in the school and the ways that we can grow and adjust. That survey is out right now for your response and I encourage all families to complete it. It has helped shape many decisions over the years that I have been Head and it is helpful to have the perspective of our families. I appreciate the thoughtful and constructive information that families provide to us as our school develops.

It is June already! We are on to camp for our grade 4 and 5 students at Camp Elphinstone on the Sunshine Coast next week. It is an exciting time for young students to try some skills that are new to them. Thank you to our families for their thoughtful preparation of their children heading off to camp. They will have a wonderful time.

Enjoy the weekend. We look forward to seeing you on Monday morning for another week full of learning.

Mrs. Cheryle Beaumont
Head of School
