Dear Urban Academy Families,

Thank you for a wonderful end to a very full year! The students’ work has been excellent and staff are very pleased with their achievement. Our Report Card ceremonies and Commencement went off very well. Thank you to our families for your messages of thanks, and gifts of food and treats for our staff. We have been very spoiled!

Please note that Out of School Care Summer program is in full swing as of tomorrow. Teaching staff are in working for the remainder of the week. Administrative staff continue to work through the summer with the exception of the two weeks of closure, July 22 – August 5.

I have attached our next year’s calendar one more time as there is a correction on the October Professional Day. The provincial day will be held October 25 this year so UA will align with that date.

Thank you to our staff who are leaving us this year; Ms. Kost, Ms. Schmidt and Ms. Labrie. Their service to UA is most appreciated and we will miss you. Ms. Budd and Mrs. Power will head off on maternity leave. Ms. Hau has been our School Associate this year and is heading to school in September to complete her teacher training, these are typically one year positions for developing teachers. The new School Associate for September that we will take on will be Mr. McKaig. We are welcoming Ms. Drought and Ms. Szeto from Crofton House, Ms. O’Halloran from Fawkes Academy, Ms. Pike from SD 91, Ms. Cristales from the Early Childhood field and Ms. Rhodes who is moving here from Ontario to join us. Our growing school requires more teaching staff!

Thank you for your support of our school. It has been quite a year and we greatly appreciate the encouragement from our community. I would like to acknowledge the leadership of our Board of Directors. Their steadfast guidance is deeply valued. Together, as a community, we have all provided a wonderful school and sustainable future for Urban Academy.

Have a very enjoyable summer with your children. If there is a need for any further updates I will send a brief email next week, but it is not likely that you will receive another regular email from the school until early in the week of August 19.

I wish all of you a restful and safe summer vacation!

Mrs. Cheryle Beaumont
Head of School
