Dear Urban Academy Families,

Thank you for your responsiveness on the emails and surveys this week. We have appreciated the quick turnaround to prepare responsibly for our students and we have a significant majority of our kids back for June 1. Parents, you have done a remarkable job supporting your children through home eLearning and it is much appreciated. Your support of our work has been invaluable. Thank you for the kind words of encouragement.

eLearning will change once we are working back in classrooms every day, there will be significant Zoom work for Senior students and a weekly post for the Junior School but it will not be the same when we are back teaching in the classroom. We are so looking forward to seeing our students at school and are preparing carefully and thoughtfully to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment. Please remember that Friday, May 29 is a day for teachers back in the building to prepare and so there will not be eLearning posts that day.

Please ensure you have ordered your school yearbook. The deadline is today, and you will want some memories of this very memorable year! Please click here to order your copy so that we can have it ready for you at the end of June.

We are also working on year-end, which will be different this year. We will complete school on June 23 this year, not June 24 as noted originally in our planning. We have work ahead of us to prepare for September and have not been able to work with staff on any of those aspects of school operations for the whole of the last term. Please note that in your calendars and, for families who require OOSC, please make sure you have registered for the afternoon of June 23 and the day of June 24. Registration for care during summer days and weeks is available now so please sign up by emailing admin@urbanacademy.ca to secure your spot for your child.

We are preparing for our JK and K orientation with all of our families, new and sibling families alike. It will be virtual this year, so that is a new experience, but we are looking forward to connecting with all of them so that they can be ready for school this fall.

Enjoy the weekend. We look forward to seeing you virtually next week and, for many, in person the week after!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs. Cheryle Beaumont
Head of School
