Dear UA Parents,

We made it!! Congratulations to the entire UA community for your diligence in following the health protocols that we have put in place. We have been very fortunate to not have to issue an exposure letter to date at UA. That being said, the reality is that COVID is present in our communities, and many schools and organizations that surround us have had exposures. As we head into Spring Break with an increased sense of hope and optimism for the end of the pandemic, it is now more important than ever to be mindful of our behaviours. Please continue to follow the guidelines: restrict social activities to your bubble group of 10, keep any socializing outside, and do your best to keep physically distanced and wearing a mask when you can’t. Please take a moment to look at the graphic from Fraser Health attached to this Weekly Update.

Should an exposure happen over the break, the same procedures will be in place. We will send letters home to the affected classroom as well as to the entire community letting everyone know there was an exposure at the school. Should your family be required to either self-isolate or self-monitor over the break, please reach out to the school and let us know. We want to make sure our return to school in April is healthy and safe so that we can try and extend our streak until the end of the school year.

I am hopeful that parents and students have all had a chance to access the Term 2 report cards in MySchool. As with all mid-year report cards, the marks and feedback should be taken as an opportunity to reflect on what has gone well and what areas students can improve upon heading into the final term of the year. Set some goals together as a family and put plans in place to help students achieve them.

I would like to remind everyone to purchase your Virtual Gala tickets. It is going to be a great night and an opportunity to see our UA students in action, win prizes and enjoy a nice gift box full of treats, all while being entertained by UA’s very own Jennifer Robertson, one of the stars of the Emmy Award-winning show Schitt’s Creek and the new Netflix hit Ginny & Georgia. It is not to be missed. You can get your tickets here.

Have a wonderful Spring Break and a well-deserved rest. The last few months of the year will go quickly. Stay safe, stay healthy.

Yours in education,

Mr. Slinger
