Dear UA Parents,
What a wonderful week it has been. A highlight was being able to come together once again for a full school assembly in celebration of Pink Shirt Day. Students from across the grades wrote affirmations that were then distributed to the student and staff community, so we each received a wonderful affirmation reminding us of our value. A little acting, some confetti and a brief dance party brought much joy, as we shared the message that being kind to one another is for every day of the year.
We shared earlier this week that Ms. Dadar is moving into the Associate Principal position for next school year as we expand the UA Leadership Team. We are excited about this shift for her and our growth. We also have another staffing detail to share that will only impact a few of our older classes. Mr. Gow has recently become a new father, which is a very exciting time for him. He will be taking two weeks of parental leave prior to Spring Break to spend time with his young family. We wish him well and will see him refreshed (or possibly not!) after the break. His classes will be covered by our staff internally.
Our UA Green Team has been working hard to develop plans and projects to ensure Urban Academy is environmentally aware and taking action to be greener. The team created a presentation and visited many of our UA classes to share their plans with their fellow students. The presentation was a fantastic one, and we welcome you to take a look at their video here.
And finally, I want to thank you for completing your re-registration for the coming school year. It is exciting to see so many of our students return as we plan for an exceptional year where we hope more field study, travel, and additional co-curricular and extracurricular activities can take place. Just a reminder that re-registration is due on Monday, February 28.
