Hello UA Parents,

The excitement and anticipation of the upcoming holidays was noticeable in the building this week. Our students were busy preparing for the Exclusive Premier of our UA Winter Concert which will air on our UA YouTube Channel next Thursday at 7:00 pm. We will send out the link for this virtual concert next week. It was nice to feel the jump in energy… but one does have to wonder if it has anything to do with the geomagnetic storm that is happening above us in the sky right now. If the skies clear this evening we may be treated to a show of Northern Lights. I will certainly be checking it out.

By now, you should have had an opportunity to review your child’s first term report card. The reports were published to MySchool on Tuesday and will be accessible for reference here for years to come. One of the benefits of the MySchool portal is that you will be able to access all of your child’s historical report cards moving forward from this school year. As with any report card, if you have any questions please reach out to the appropriate teacher.

At this week’s UA Board Meeting the tuition rates for the 2021-2022 school year were approved. There will be a modest increase in the fees across the grade levels which will allow us to meet the increases associated with a growing school. Please see the attached details with regard to tuition fees for the coming year. Re-registration information for our JK’s moving to Kindergarten will be sent out shortly, while re-registration for Kindergarten and up will be distributed in the new year.

I would like to share a few highlights from this week that Ms. Kennedy and I experienced. We have finished assessments and just completed Zoom interviews with applicants for our 2021-22 Kindergarten classes. We are so inspired by the quality of the families that have shown interest in joining our UA community! It is going to be a very difficult decision as we have far more applicants than we have spaces. Word is getting out about the quality of the UA community and the success of our curricular and co-curricular programs. It is a tribute to all of the current members of UA. Additionally, Ms. Kennedy and I made some visits to our Annual Appeal “Leaf Donors” to drop off a token of our appreciation. It was so nice to see these community members, from an appropriate distance, and be able to thank them in person for their generous contributions to UA’s “Hear Us Roar” Annual Appeal. Thank you to all families who have supported the appeal!

Yours in education,
Mr. Slinger
