Dear UA Parents,

I hope everyone has had a good week of remote learning. I would like to thank everyone for being adaptable and making the quick transition on very short notice. It was very impressive to see how seamlessly the switch to remote learning occurred. Well done students, staff, and parents. I look forward to seeing the students back in their classrooms on Monday morning.

Yesterday, I informed you all that we had another exposure at UA last week which will see a handful of students join the others in self-isolation until Thursday. None of the cases are related which means our mitigation measures at the school have worked well to limit any transmission in the school. The members of our community who have had to endure positive cases of COVID-19 seem to be on the road to recovery and it does not appear that we have any further positive cases at this time. It was great news to hear that the age for the AstraZeneca vaccine was dropped to 40 years old. It has allowed many of our staff members to be in a position to get the vaccination sooner than anticipated. I hope that eligible parents will consider making appointments as well. The more people that get vaccinated, the sooner we will be able to get back to a more regular way of life. I know I was very pleased when my wife and I were able to get a vaccine.

We will be returning to face-to-face learning and the regular schedule beginning on Monday, April 26. For those students who will still be in self-isolation for a few more days next week, we will reach out with plans for your learning program via an email from your teachers.

One positive that came out of the switch to remote learning was that we had zero parking issues around the school this week!! Thank you again to the entire UA community for your flexibility this week. We have 9 weeks to go in this crazy school year, let’s keep working together to keep our community safe, make sure you are supporting everyone – students, staff, and other parents. Our community has done a remarkable job maneuvering an ever-changing landscape this year. I know we can finish the year strong, even if we have to make some changes along the way.

Have a great weekend, you have more than earned a rest this week!

Yours in education,

Mr. Slinger
