June 3, 2022

Hello everyone,

What a full and busy week it has been! We are coming to the end of Pride Week at UA with different activities at the various school levels. This is an exciting week with an emphasis on kindness and acceptance of everyone. We are very fortunate at UA as these attitudes are evident throughout our community on a daily basis and have been part of our values since the school was founded. It is one of the things that makes UA’s community so strong. I hope you noticed all the chalk rainbow colours out on the sidewalk today. Our classes took turns decorating our outdoor space. It is important for UA to be a place that accepts everyone.
Next week is a big week for our Outdoor Education Program with students in Grades 3-8 all heading out for camp. The trips range from a day camp for the Grade 3’s to 4 days/3 nights for our Grade 7 and 8’s. These opportunities to get away to camp will create wonderful memories and new experiences for our students. Our hope is that these opportunities enable students to get outside of their comfort zone and develop independence and resiliency as they may face challenges that they may not have experienced before.
Our Senior School students will be having their exam week next week. This will be an opportunity for our Seniors to demonstrate their learning as the end of the year approaches. We wish them all well as they strive to do their best in their assessments.
It looks like another wet weekend, but I hope that doesn’t stop you all from getting outside and enjoying some fresh air. I hope the weather will improve next week for our campers, but if it is a bit drizzly it just adds to the experience.

Yours in education,

Mr. Slinger
