Head of School’s Weekly Message

Hello UA Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful spring break and everyone is well rested and ready for school on Monday, March 27.

We have had a number of exciting projects being worked on over the break that I would like to share with you. We have installed netting over the newly turfed 3rd-floor Athletic Deck, which will allow our students to play more freely with balls without the fear of anything going over the fence onto the construction site. In the Junior Kindergarten classrooms, we have opened up part of the wall between the two classrooms to make a more open-concept space. This will allow for more interaction between all the JK students and staff, as well as more space to play and learn. Additionally, we were able to complete the sound-dampening project on the second and third floors (13 classrooms in total). So now all of our classrooms on the first, second and third floors have acoustic panels and ceiling disks installed which will improve the quality of the sound in all of those learning spaces significantly. Finally, we worked with Shaw to install phones in all of the classrooms which will provide significant improvement in our ability to communicate from the office to the classrooms, and from the classrooms to the office. I would like to thank all of the staff that contributed to these projects including Dave Kuzyk (Building Maintenance), Tenzin Namdec (Caretaker), and Dylan McCulley-Hayden (IT Manager) for their work over the break to help improve our facility.

I hope you enjoy your weekend and we look forward to seeing all the students back at school on Monday.

Yours in Education,
Mr. Slinger
