Hello Families,

Get your pom poms out everyone…. we made it! I hope that you have plans for spring break that include an extra dose of rest, adventure and connection with our families. While it may feel like we just came through a busy winter season, as the snow melts (possibly for the last time) around here, we are looking forward to a busy spring!

I do want to take this opportunity to thank the parent community for all of their support so far this year. Not a day goes by without seeing parents here sharing their expertise, supporting field trips, helping with the superhero roles of parking and crossing guard (shameless plug: we’d love more superheroes), setting up committee meetings, leading assemblies etc. Urban Academy is only what it is because of the time and talent that our families so freely give.

A specific thank you to our PAX who have planned everything from Breakfast with Santa, Hot Lunch and Used Uniform stores to Staff Appreciation and Middle & Senior Student socials. Looking ahead there is a new Parent Trivia Social that promises to be a lot of fun, many more hot lunches and announced this week: Gala Tickets went on sale for the fundraising party of the year! All of these initiatives are only possible because of the commitment that so many of our parents have to seeing Urban Academy be the vibrant school it is.

There seem to have already been a fair number of questions this year from parents with regard to the UA enrichment program, the introduction of Advanced Placement, post secondary acceptances of UA students as well as assessment. Therefore, please mark your calendars for April 4th at 7pm where Ms. Ball will be hosting an important webinar addressing this information that is open to all UA parents. The registration link and further details are below.

Below you will also find details on upcoming events and helpful parenting information, but I would also like to draw your attention to the last of the re-registration tasks including tuition payment that will be due on April 3rd. New this year, and hopefully helpful to you, by next week you will be able to see the amount owing on your tuition taking into account the deposit that was already paid in February on your MySchool dashboard. For those of you confident in your math skills, these tuition details will let you know how you can pay your tuition.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone back after the break for the final portion of the year. The spring is always my favourite time marked by concerts, showcases, presentations, graduation/commencement and the Gala.
