Dear UA Families,

Winter has officially arrived! Thank you for your patience with pick-up and drop-off. It has continued to be fairly seamless, and we are looking forward to seeing that continue. We know that our underground winter wonderland has brought many smiles to the faces of both kids and adults. Thank you to PAX for leading the elves in making this happen!

It was wonderful to meet with so many of you for our community update webinar this week as well. We were able to share UA’s draft mission and vision, and talk about both the current and impending growth of the UA program. If you were unable to attend, I would like to encourage you to find some time to watch the Community Update at your convenience.

We are also inching our way up with our ‘Let’s Get Moving’ Annual Appeal to complete some of our inside and outside spaces. The excitement is starting to permeate through the students now too. One of our classes has decided to support this initiative themselves, as they would love a playground on the 4th floor. This is a message from Ms. Remtulla’s Grade 4 Class:

“We are hosting a bake sale during dismissal on December 15 in front of the JR Wing. We would love you to support our cause in raising money for a new playground. This will change the lives of UA students by bringing joy and happiness through a fun play space. Each cookie will cost between $2-$5, depending on the size and design. We can’t wait to see you there!”

Finally, with each passing day, the energy around UA continues to grow. This week alone there have been celebrations, a Senior Drama Showcase, snow excursions, post-secondary presentations, decorated classrooms and dress rehearsals. We get sneak peeks every day of the productions to come, and we know that the students can not wait to display their learning. We hear students practicing every day (we may even be able to sing along with most of the music) and we know that you will not be disappointed!

We are looking forward to seeing so many of you next week!

All the best,

Ms. Sonja Kennedy
