Extra-curricular Experiences
Urban Academy’s extra-curricular activities, clubs, and sports teams are an integral component of our educational offering. Learning here extends well beyond regular class time, allowing students to cultivate their skills and providing another outlet for teamwork, discovery, and collaboration. Extra-curricular opportunities for Term 2 are noted below.
Urban Academy Athletics Teams
Urban Academy teams grow with the school. Teams compete against other ISABC (Independent School Association of BC) and GVISAA (Greater Vancouver Independent Schools Athletics Association) schools throughout the Lower Mainland, learning about collaboration, physical health, game strategy and constructive competition.
Sports Teams offered annually include: Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Track and Field, Cross Country Running and Ultimate Frisbee. Our teams are listed in the extra-curricular outline above.
Urban Academy Clubs
With parent and teacher support, we are also happy to offer clubs before, during and after school hours for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. Clubs teach our students about commitment and involvement, helping them build relationships and interest. They also offer the opportunity for students to discover new passions and hobbies. Clubs change each term based on student and parent/teacher involvement, including a range of clubs such as Chess Club, Musical Theatre, Athletic Clubs, Math Club, Robotics Club, Glee Club and STEM Club. Many student groups such as VISTA one act play team, Leadership Groups and Speech Club work with and compete against other ISABC schools allowing UA students to learn from and get to know their peers throughout the province.
