If you’ve made it this far, it means you’re ready to find out more and we're excited to answer every one of your questions. Whether you’re ready to inquire, come in for an Admissions Information Session or to begin applying, you’ve come to the right place.
For the 2021/2022 school year the Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes has now been placed. There is limited space in certain grades from Grades 1-12. Please contact email@example.com to determine space availability for the grade you are seeking.
Step 1: Inquire
If you are interested in inquiring about space, or learning more about the Urban Academy program and its fit for your child, please submit an inquiry with any relevant questions you may have. You may be encouraged to attend a webinar, or book a phone call with a member of the admissions team depending on the information you provide. If you feel as if you have sufficient information and would like to go directly to an application, you can do so by skipping to step 2 below.
Step 2: Apply
If you have learned enough about Urban Academy, and feel as if it is a good fit for your child, we encourage you to submit their online application form. Our online system will prompt you to set up a profile (option 1 - account sign-up page), complete their application and include their most recent report card (for Grade 1+ applicants) as well as any other supporting documents. It will also request that you finalize their application by calling our Administrator to pay the $250 application fee. Once the application package is complete, a member of the admissions team will set up an application review call with you to go over your child's application package together.
Step 3: Assessment
Depending on your child's age, the assessments all look a little bit different. JK and K assessments are 1:1 meetings first, and then successful candidates move on to group sessions. Grade 1-12 applicants come in for their assessments which are a combination of academic and interpersonal sessions. We pride ourselves in evaluating evenly and fairly, and our assessments help determine if students are prepared for the Urban Academy approach to education, learning philosophies and academic rigour. Students who are successful in their assessments then move on to the interview.
Step 4: Admissions Interview
Students who pass their assessments are invited in to the admissions interview. This interview is conducted via Zoom and includes the student, their parents, the Head of School and a member of the admissions team. These interviews allow the Head of School to meet with and get to know the family, and it also allows interested families to ask questions of the school leadership. These interviews help determine acceptance. At this stage, students applying to Grades 1-12 will also be asked for a reference form (provided from UA Admissions) from a current teacher.
Step 5: Admissions Decision
Applicants who have successfully passed through to the admissions interview will receive an admissions decision via email once the Admissions Committee has met and reviewed all of the information gathered. Kindergarten acceptances will be announced by the winter break, JK decisions by spring break and Grade 1-12 applicants will know their results within two weeks following their admissions interviews. Students who receive a spot on the waitlist will be notified as soon as a space becomes available. Successful candidates will receive their enrollment and registration package as soon as they receive a spot at Urban Academy.
