Urban Academy is currently inviting dedicated, team-oriented teachers to apply for our Out of School Care Supervision Aide position for the 2024-2025 school year. Please indicate recent professional development and extracurricular experience you possess as part of your candidacy for this position.
We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic team member to fill the position of Out of School Care and Supervision Aide. This person will be responsible for supervising students who are registered in our licensed child care center in the afternoon, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Mondays to Fridays. The current hourly salary for this position is $21.00 per hour plus an additional 12% in lieu of holidays and benefits.
Expectations and Responsibilities
Including but not limited to the following:
- Supervise and conduct activities, both indoors and outdoors, for the school-aged children who attend the Out of School program
- Provide care during non-instructional Professional development days
- Adhere to appropriate attendance and safety procedures
- Ensure a safe and caring environment for students attending the Out of School Care program
- Support students with homework
Qualifications and Requirements
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Valid ECE certification (not a must but preferred)
- Current first aid training certificate
- Vaccination and other records as required by child care licensing
- Responsible Adult certification (not required if other certifications such as ECE, education assistant, etc are completed and current)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Collegiality and punctuality
- Demonstrated ability and experience in working with school-aged children
- Experience supporting a range of learning and behavioural needs in an inclusive school setting is an asset
- A proven understanding of children’s social and emotional needs from a trauma-informed lens
Candidates report to the OOSC Manager and Associate Principal and will be asked to report any accidents witnessed, along with behavioural incidents to the Associate Principal in a timely manner.
