At Urban Academy, the aim of the senior school program is to prepare students for the world after school. Building on earlier learning, teachers focus on problem-solving skills, independent thinking strategies, and self-reflection. Our goal is to create students who can make connections between their academic learning and real-world situations.
Small class sizes allow teachers to respond to the respective needs of each individual, creating an environment where each student can fully reach his or her potential. Our students take an active leadership role; and service, both within the school and in the community, plays an important part in their growth.
The arts-infused program and our physical education component contribute to the development of the whole student. Field trips and guest speakers bring the real world into the classroom, and effective use of technology supports students in performing complex tasks that involve effective communication.
Urban Academy gives our seniors the tools they will need to participate in meaningful ways as global citizens.
